Alicia's Chinese Name
Just got off the phone with Alicia. She'll be in Beijing in two weeks' time as part of her MBA program with Pepperdine University. I've been such a lousy friend. She sent me a couple of emails over the past few months and I never responded to any of her emails because I was always thinking I would just call her the next day. Of course that never happened.
In her last email, she wanted me to give her a Chinese name so that she can use it during her stay in China. Well, that was three weeks ago and since she never heard from me, she got another Chinese friend to help her. Her friend suggested 舞鲜艳 (Wu Xianyan), 鲜艳 being her first name and 舞 being her last name. I hated it!
Sorry to say this, Alicia, but it sounded like a dance hostess' name. Yes, yes...I know...I could have replied to your email more promptly and helped you with a name instead of giving such unconstructive comments.
So I'm suggesting 艾丽思. The hanyu pinyin is Ai Lisi.

艾丽思 is the Chinese equivalent of Alice. And since you're so anal about having a first name and a last name, at least 艾 is a legitimate Chinese surname, rather than 舞 (what was your friend thinking?!).
I'm thinking 丽 because you're beautiful and 思 because you're very introspective. I think it'll leave a positive first impression on your new Chinese friends. At least it'll make them believe that you're not another white American bimbo with big boobs.
Pick mine! Pick mine!
By the way, Kate Larsen and James Gardner are in Beijing too. Maybe you all can catch up.

You could have simply sent a grovelly, butt-kissing email to Alicia about your chosen oriental name for her instead of blogging about it then waiting for her to read it. Note that i suggested email instead of a phone call as the former is closest to being computer-related when it comes to you. ;o)
All things aside, what a cute mini baldy you have for a nephew!

we did exchange a couple of emails okay. and i followed up with a long phone conversation, teaching her how to say her name. the blog entry was just meant to update other friends who know her too about what's going on in her life. u and i always have dirty talks over msn...i also never put up all your lewd remarks and distasteful emoticons on my blog mah.
ya...my nephew takes after his uncle :-) and i'm balding. fuck!

Ohhh...that's good! Thought u just left it for her to find out haha...So did Alicia take up yours? It makes better sense than the other one for sure. At the very least, it sounds like Alicia. Maybe I should get u to name my kid next time!
And HEY! U started the lewdness and distastefulness first, i simply responded to show u how it should be done! ;o) As your nephew clearly shows, bald can be beautiful/cute so maybe that's your new angle eh?
